straight ppl, “trying” to write a gay romance: so uhhhh here’s this background character one of the main characters just met and like two scenes where they stare at each other for a bit too long. no more build up before a kiss - the staring and like two short conversations is enough - and then it’s all regular dating in the background and an “i love you scene” that feels rushed bc there wasn’t enough screentime given to those characters to make the audience believe they even genuinely care about each other
